The German national team have this evening provided an explanation for Antonio Rudiger’s absence from their matchday squad to face North Macedonia.
Rudi doubts
Concern surrounding the wellbeing of Chelsea standout Rudiger of course began to spread over the weekend.
The 28-year-old, fresh off a stellar opening to the campaign, was unsurprisingly called up by Germany last week, for the nation’s latest round of international fixtures.
Rudiger started and featured for all 90 minutes on Friday night, as Die Mannschaft got the better of Romania in a World Cup qualifying clash.

In turn, it was no doubt viewed as a blow by supporters of not only Germany, but also Chelsea, when word began to do the rounds on Sunday afternoon that the former AS Roma man had played no part in the former’s latest training session.
‘Back problems’ were cited as the reason behind his absence, by the reliable SportBild.
Missing man
And, as outlined above, on Monday, concerns surrounding Rudiger’s wellbeing have only continued to mount.
Hansi Flick’s men are set to return to action shortly, in their final outing of the international break, versus North Macedonia.
Despite initial suggestions that his fitness issue was a minor one, though, Rudiger has not even been afforded a place in the German matchday squad at the Toše Proeski National Arena.
Die Mannschaft, in turn, have since reiterated that their star defender is continuing to suffer with ‘back problems’:
