Stock market live updates: The key benchmark indices were seen consolidating in a narrow band in trades on Wednesday a day after the GDP numbers came more or less on expected lines.
The broader markets, meanwhile, outperformed the two indices. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rose up to 0.8 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty FMCG, consumer durables and realty indices led gains, rising 1 per cent each. Nifty Auto and PSBs were other notable gainers. While financials and oil and gas indices were flat.
Among stocks, Bharat Dynamics soared over 5 per cent after the company signed a contract with the defence ministry for building Astra Mark-1 beyond visual range air-to-air missiles (BVRAAMs) worth Rs 2,971 crores.
Bajaj Auto fell 2 per cent after the company’s commercial vehicle sales in May came 16 per cent lower on a yearly basis.
