Hot temperatures are already causing problems on the railway this morning.
Would-be rail passengers arrived at Oxford station this morning to be greeted by a notice warning them of a blocked line between Didcot Parkway and Oxford.
The notice, displayed on the station concourse, read: “Due to a rail buckling in the heat between Didcot Parkway and Oxford the line towards Oxford is blocked.
“Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or running non-stop towards Oxford.”
One woman currently at the station told the Oxford Mail: “Everyone seems very hot and bothered. People have taken to sitting on the floor as all the seats are taken in the waiting area. Not ideal on a hot day.”
Temperatures are expected to soar to 30C tomorrow and 36C on Monday and Tuesday. Train companies have urged passengers not to travel unless ‘absolutely necessary’.
